Shannon's birthday party...

Went to Shannon's 1yo birthday party last Sunday. I was particularly pleased at deardear's "social" skills.

1. I noticed deardear was watching intently a group of young children (arnd ages 5-6) playing, so i casually asked her "U want to join the gor-gor n jie-jie to play balloon?". She nodded yes, so i said "Ok, be careful." and let her toddle over to them. She didn't charge for the balloon straightaway, but stood at the side of the group. Whenever, the balloon came near her, she would reach out her hand n try to catch it. Of cos, the older kids would be faster than her n deardear could never catch the balloon. What pleased me is that deardear is willing to go up to a group of children unfamiliar to her n try to join in the fun.

2. I told deardear to pass a balloon to Cherylin jie-jie. Deardear readily took the balloon and toddled over to Cherylin n held out the balloon to her. Cherylin said no, probably bcos she just arrived at the party n is not warmed up yet. What pleased me is that deardear is brave enough to pass a balloon to a jie-jie whom she is not familiar with.


P/S: Met Adrian as i was leaving the party. Hah! such a coincidence tt he's living in the same condo as Welch...
