Pissed off - big time!!!

Nevermind tt it's Monday blues, nevermind tt i was already feeling down in the pits over the weekend...

What caps it all off is the email i saw this monday for a STUPID person!

Sequence of events:
I read a blog written by a local mommi who has had much experience with maids, so i posed 2 questions to her on Nov 12, 2007:

i buy kao biore facial wash for my maid bcos she has slight acne problem and i wan her to keep her face clean bcos she helps me to take care of my 1yo daughter. but i've realised she used it up quite fast, like within 3 weeks finish 1 tube. how to control her? if i leave her the choice to buy, she may not buy using her own money. then, i will always worry when she handle my daughter.

2. she's a village girl in indo n is quite rough when handling my appliances. she has spoilt quite a number of my things since she came, e.g. vacuum cleaner, choked the sink, damaged my clothes while handwashing, ironing board, laminate flooring... she onli knows how to keep saying sorry. how to make known to her that there's a limit to what i can accept, n if she still keeps doing tt, i cannot keep her? my frens ever warn me not to threaten them about sending them back because they may then do funny things while still in the household.

The mommi replied on Feb 28, 2008:

aclx, Your friend is right that you should never threaten to send the maid back. If you want to send her back, just send, don't need to tell her in advance. You can give her 6 months to 1 year to see if she improve. If she still does not improve, then you should send her back. As for the facial wash, you can keep the tube, then issue her the right amount every day. I know it is tedious, but when the maid is like that, you really got no choice.

Then, on Aug 31, 2008, a stupid person by the name of Jim wrote:

i really cant believe some of the comments here! please remember a maid is not a slave. yes we make them work long hours for low pay, but they're still entitled to personal rights.

to lyn: if you maid chooses to have a HP thats HER right, its not for you to decide or control.

to aclx: acne is not leprosy! its not contagious. whether her face is clear or not doesn't affect your families health in any way.

On Sep 30, 2008, the mommi (blog owner) replied:

The employer has a right to tell the maid that she is not allowed to use handphone when she is working. Many workers in large companies are not allowed to use handphones when they work.

There are maids who become addicted to handphones and talk all day. They will not be able to concentrate on their work. It is best to be strict and disallow handphones. A good maid will know that they are here to work, not to socialize, so she should not mind not having handphones.

I think aclx is concerned that her baby girl will touch the maid's face. Babies love to put their hands in their mouth. What if the maid's face is oily and the pimples have pus ? It will be very gross if the baby gets it in her mouth and swallows it. I even disallow my maids to put moisturizer or talcum powder on their face when they are taking care of my babies. I don't think that this is not respecting the maid's human rights. It is the job requirement.

I used to work in a high tech clean room environment. Female operators are not allowed to put on any makeup. It is their job requirement. If they don't like it, they should not apply for the job.

I got all riled up by the stupid person's comments, so couldn't resist replying:

to jim: What's it got to do with leprosy? Did i send her back to agency when i saw she had acne on her face? Read properly and think before u comment - i bought her the facial wash to keep her face clean. As Tamarind (blog owner) correctly put it, i am only worried that my baby touch her face and then, put her hand inside her mouth.
