My mommie’s recount V: We had a baby shower for Ashley on 18 Nov. It was a bright n sunny Saturday. The celebration would be lunch, from 12-2pm. We booked the function room in Yew Mei Green for the celebration, but the timing is not very ideal cos it’s from 10am – 2pm, neither here nor there… anyway, the show has to go on. Abt 11.15am, the catering came. Alan n my fil had to go and collect the 1st month’s cake ( couldn’t deliver bcos we placed order rather late, n Saturday deliveries were all full), so I had to check and make sure the delivered food was correct. Everything was ok.
Around 11.30am, alan and my fil came back with the cakes. There was a slight accident with the cakes which toppled over in the car boot on the way back, so we had to try and salvage the cakes. Luckily, I ordered 5 extra boxes, so still manageable. We’ll just keep the “damaged” ones ourselves. Wow!, the tarts and little cakes look yummy…
Oh yes! The star of the day – my little princess Ashley was dressed in a pretty lil pinkish flowery romper. We brought the bouncer down n let Ashley settle comfortably in it.
By 12pm, my frens, colleagues and relatives started streaming in… my mum n sis were abit late, cos they took mrt even though I told them to take cab… urghhh!!! Ya, all the guests were mine as alan said his colleagues r mostly in overseas countries, so cannot invite. My in-laws said they had already invited their frens n relatives over a couple of month’s back when Rainie had her baby shower, so abit pai seh to invite them again.
Anyway, I did have a great time playing host n catching up with frens, colleagues n relatives. Especially, I can really tok to them abt my new responsibilities as a mommy n the difficulties I face. It’s really comforting to know I m not the only ones with the problems… BUT problems aside, I really love taking care of my baby J
Time passes real quickly, n soon it was 1.30pm. We had a little fiasco then. The family who had booked the function room from 2-6pm came early, wanting to decorate the room bcos they had a birthday celebration. They placed all their goody bags outside n it was a little irritating to see that, gives us the feeling tt we are being chased out.
Anyway, I felt abit pai seh to hv to break the celebration. But my guests were all very “automatic”. They saw wat was happening, n started packing up to leave. For those who wanted to stay on, we invited them to our house to continue…
Seems like my guests were all light eaters, bcos even though I didn’t order extra headcount for the food, there were a lot of food left ( n I really mean ALOT!!! ). Thanks to Patrick n Yung Chih who help me with the packing of the food and bringing them up! Thanks again, guys!!
Seems like I was having more fun than Ashley??? Not true!, my little princess was the focus of my relatives. Everyone wanted to carry her and coo over her… everyone said she had very pretty eyes, big n double-eyelids ( like her mommy??? :-P )…
