Little anecdotes

Barney
Sometime back, Alan bought a Barney VCD called “Fun with Friends”. There is this one episode in which there was a little girl without a hand, juz a stump. When deardear first watched tt episode, she was abit emotional and keep saying “怕怕，怕怕”… Initially, I thot she was juz using this tactic to get my attention as I usually onli let her watch vcds when I need to do other stuff. However, subsequently, for the 2nd and 3rd time, I noticed tt she kept having this same reaction whenever I let her watch this episode. So, finally I went to sit with her to watch the VCD and found out tt whenever this little girl appears, she will say “怕怕，怕怕”.

After discussing this wif my colleagues who are all parents of young children, I found out that babies from very young already know how to distinguish ugly vs pretty things. Angela even told me about how an experiment was held to find out the amount of attention young toddlers give to ugly vs pretty persons.

Vegetable
Successfully introduced cauliflower and to-fu to deardear.

Achievement
Deardear can match things. I showed deardear a pkt of wet tissue (blue colour type from Watsons) and told her to bring me this same type of tissue from the drawer. As there are a few different types of tissue in the drawer, I was not sure if deardear would bring me the correct type. But this little trooper came back wif the right one! I m so proud of her!

Sleeping time
Ok, I admit it. Sometimes, I do scold deardear while trying to get her to sleep at nite. This is usually after about half-an-hour of tossing and turning and rubbing eyes. When I see that deardear is obviously tired, but still not trying to go n sleep, I get irritated n will scold her. A few nites ago, I was quite fed-up. I stomped out of the room and told Alan to take over. I’d expected the usual reaction from deardear, tt is, rejecting Alan and crying out loud for me. Surprisingly, all was quiet and after abt 25mins, deardear was fast asleep. AT LAST, Alan can share the load wif me.
