Compliments - voluntary or asked for?

This morning, while i was in the office lift, an ex-colleague (a Caucasian guy) complimented me on my outfit. I was rather surprised bcos i don't know him well and was also rather pleased with the compliment (which woman won't be???).

Anyway, the point i want to make is it struck me that my hubby has never complimented me or my outfit voluntarily. By this, i mean to EXCLUDE all the occasions whereby i asked him "nice or not?", bcos for women, when we ask "nice or note?", it doesn't matter wat the answer is, we will usually take it with a pinch of salt). To us women, it's a different thing when compliments are given voluntarily.

That's 1 good thing about Caucasian guys, i think. They r more vocal n r not afraid to communicate their thots across. Something that local Chinese Singaporean guys can improve on...
